　前作『ストリート・ライフ』の大ヒットで、彼らも「コレはいける！」と思ったのでしょう。
　コレというのは、もちろんヴォーカル・ナンバーです。

「ストリート・ライフ」で世話になった作詞家ウィル・ジェニングスを再び担ぎ出し、ちょっぴり「過去の人」になりつつあったソウル歌手のビル・ウィザースを引っぱってきて、「ソウル・シャドウズ」おんまいまいん～。
　くすんだ曲調に深遠な歌詞、そしてヴォーカル。
　ヴォーカル・ナンバーとしては「ストリート・ライフ」に匹敵する出来だと思います。ちょっと地味だけど。

　タイトル曲のB1「ラプソディー＆ブルース」はやや退屈ながら、次のB2「ラスト・コール」がいい。
　ジョー・サンプルのピアノ・ソロが、私にとってこのアルバムいちばんの聴きどころ。
