これを中古レコード屋で見かけたときは、あまり深く考えず、タイトルからフィリー・ソウルなサウンドを期待して買いました。
聴いてみると、ちっともフィリー・ソウルではありません。ディスコ向けの電化ファンクとでも申しましょうか。すべての曲が4つ打ち。そういう時代なのかなあ。
本格ソウル・ミュージックのような粘っこいノリはなく、全体的に薄っぺらいサウンドです。でもそれがいい。薄っぺらいというのは、必ずしも悪いことではないのです。
